INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL! SKKU 2008

The hot issue in Sungkyunkwan University!My chance, my opportunity!

Actually my staying in Sungkyunkwan supposed to last only 1 semester, but i really wanted to find some opportunities to extend my staying in SKKU! Here is my luck! International office in SKKU offered me to apply for International Summer School, that is became one of the hottest issue in SKKU! Yeah, of course for me it was great chance to stay in Korea longer, but also i wanted to know what benefits can i get from this program!This is really important, because if there is no perspective field, it is better to find some job, or internship, and just do something useful, than just take this chance and do nothing!So, then i started really looking for advantages and disadvantages of applying to this program. I went to International office and asked some questions relating to that program!So, i had a nice conversation with the person who is director of the program, and who really guided me in founding more information about the program! Here is what i found out, first starting from general overview of program:

"As i understood, this program is held for the first time in SKKU, and all stuff that works on this program continuously put a lot of afford in order to succeed! This program is unique in that it offers a regional perspective with thematic focus. This program is put together to be world class and internationally competitive, offering more than just an understanding of local culture. So it means that International students are offered a chance not only experience Korean culture, but also to get an incredible source of world-class education. The core aspect of program is Integration. Therefore the program is directed not only to provide standard tool for getting knowledge in one sphere, but to follow different approach through understanding of three important themes. To understand business in East Asia, it is essential to have knowledge of the region's culture. An understanding of the transitional culture of the society requires appreciation of technology that is influencing it and it is technology that is increasingly influential on the business environment. Not only is this integration important academically but also in terms of people, as it creates synergies between students and professors. This will be reached through diversity, another of their core values. In addition, this diversity is achieved through a faculty with a variety of backgrounds, knowledge bases and conceptual approaches. Professors have been invited to this program from around the world for their expertise. The program personnel's are proud they share their vision that understanding can be enriched through interdisciplinary interaction. This program is also characterized by its emerging themes. The content approached is of increasing relevance and importance in today's world. Not only that but it is rapidly becoming crucial to have cross disciplinary knowledge as the themes converge".

So... that sounds great isn't it?Hm....Professors all over the world, that is amazing! Moreover, as i found out there are more that 150 international students applying to that program! And they all come to SKKU to experience the opportunity that is provided by university! I'm really excited about this program, and I'm sure that i will enjoy it so much! Because Program is unique in the ways which mostly students want to see when they apply to this kind of international studying programs. First is to experience Korean culture travelling, and interacting with East Asian society, second is to get a highly-appreciated knowledge of rapid developing economics and business in the world of East Asian countries from world-class professors, and third is to meet new people from all over the world, and enjoy lasting friendship for rest life.

Here is also some important things in exploring the benefits that I can get from that program:

• Practical Learning
• Project and problem based learning
• Evaluation based on "go to the market"/ "go to the public concepts"

Those that i listed above are all benefits that i'm expecting from this program, but also i think there are a lot of other advantages that i can get. And one more thing, i think that this program is very helpful to make your resume appearance wealthier ^^.
So, I'm so happy that I'm applying to that program, so that my expectations are fulfills me in enjoying the life in Sungkyunkwan University!^^
